Arranging & Composing
Sam Keevers has worked as a composer and arranger on many projects including the AFI Award broadcasts for SBS television, “So Much Beauty” for Kate Ceberano, Los Cabrones- Australia’s premier latin- jazz group and most recently for “Seven Songs to Leave Behind” with Ricky-Lee Jones, Meshell Ndegeocello, John Cale and Sinead O’connor.
Sam has also co-written songs with such artists as Daniel Merriweather and Gary Pinto.
Katie Noonan’s album “Blackbird” features arrangements of Lennon and Mcartney songs, all by Sam, and was recorded in New York City in 2008. This album won the ARIA award for best jazz album in 2009.
Much of Sam’s arranging and composing work has been in the field of screen composition beginning with a piece for John Polson’s feature film directorial debut “Siam Sunset” with original music by Paul Grabowsky. Since completing post-graduate study at the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) in 2009 Sam has worked in partnership with Patrick Robertson, a collaboration known as “Two Birds” on such projects as the short film “Shotgun”, a Tourism Victoria television campaign and “Muscle” an episode of the ABC documentary series “Anatomy”. Sam continues to work with Paul Grabowsky as composer’s assistant on several feature films and live projects.
